Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple at Kilpennathur, which is more than a few hundred years old, is undergoing major renovation. As you are all aware the Ancient SRI MEENAKSHI SUDARESWARAR Temple at Kil Pennathur is where all our forefather’s worshipped.

It is heartening to note that some Pennathur Clan people have taken the lead & started the same in right earnest. Work is under way, thanks to the untiring efforts of Lord Siva’s devotees of Tiruvannamalai Association of APPAR. This association, under the lead of teacher Thiru A. Dhanasekar, has until now carried out and completed renovation of a hundred temples. Apart from this major activity, every Sunday, this team also carries out one-day temple cleaning service in the premises of ancient and village temples.

The family of Tiru Vinayaga Mudaliar have been paying for the past forty years, the electricity bill of this temple. Moreover, Annual Annabhishekam arrangements at the temple are being taken care of by Tiru S. Balaji, grandson of Tiru Vinayaga Mudaliar.

The temple Priest, Sundaramurthy Gurukkal , continuing since his father’s period, has been doing daily puja sincerely.

It was first decided to carry out renovation work as per Aagama Sastras. The first job was to repair the most dilapidated sections, namely the temple compound wall and the terrace roof of the Temple Mantapam, and the Vimanams (gopurams above the inner shrines). Due to the massive efforts of Tiru Muruga Subramani, DSP, the roof structure above the two main sannidhis, of Swami and Ambaal, were totally reconstructed. In addition, the vimanams and the main raja gopuram have been thoroughly and aesthetically renovated.

Thiru Eswaranandagri of Kilpennathur has been the sponsor every year of the Vasantha Navaratri festivities. With the help of these same sponsors, the floor of the Artha Mantapam of the Meenaksi Amman shrine has been laid with floor tiles. In addition, the outer corridor (prakaaram) has been paved with cement flooring.

Local dignitaries and other sponsors have contributed towards the following

An electric pump set has been installed with the help of sponsors for supply of water to the temple and to visiting devotees. With devotees’ contributions, a Vahana Mantapam (room for keeping the divine vehicles). At present, work has been started for the construction of Prasadha mantapam (Madapalli) and Nandhi mantapam

The various renovation jobs are done under the overall supervision of Tiru J.Natarajan of Kil pennathur.
